About Kira
I qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) with a PGDip from City University London. I hold a BA (hons) in Psychology from York University in Toronto, Canada, which included intensive modules on child and language development. I am also currently conducting research for my MSc on the ways in which young children understand events and how this affects the ways in which they communicate with us.
I have a wealth of experience in both the UK and Canada working with children with a wide range of difficulties across primary and secondary school, nursery, hospital, home and clinic settings. I have undertaken additional training in counseling skills for SLTs, and I am passionate about empowering families to support their children with communication needs.
Before training as an SLT,
I spent several years working in research. My extensive experience in the research world has given me a thirst for lifelong learning. Journal clubs, Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists Special Interests Groups, talks and seminars are all ways in which I support my continuing development in order to assure that I can offer quality, cutting-edge therapy.
